Rev. Bert Thompson
As an infant, Bert Anthony Thompson was born anew into the Kingdom of God in the waters of Holy Baptism. Faithful parents trained him in the Christian faith. He received his B.A cum laude in elementary education from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN, with a minor in biochemistry. He loved being teacher and principal at a small Lutheran elementary school near Vincennes, IN, where he met his wife, Shirley. He and Shirley then started a new Lutheran school near Milwaukee, WI. At that time, he was given an opportunity to explore the world of work outside the classroom. He took the opportunity and spent a successful decade in retail sales and management. He later received his M. Div. from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, IN and was ordained into the holy ministry on June 23, 1996. After seven years as a pastor in Sheboygan, WI, he was called to pastor the people of God at St. Luke Lutheran Church and School, Clinton Twp. MI. He was installed at St. Luke on June 01, 2003. Pastor Thompson retired from full-time ministry on April 23, 2017 and now serves St. Luke as visitation pastor.
Pastor Thompson and Shirley have three grown children and five grandchildren.
